The Values and Virtues statements that we will be our focus in lessons, assemblies and throughout school life during the Spring 1 half term are ELOQUENT and TRUTHFUL. In our RE lessons we will discuss the meanings of these two words mean and why they are important to us. We shared the Old Testament story Daniel and the Lion's Den and discussed how Daniel stood up for the truth. We also discussed the meaning and importance of being truthful and eloquent.
Our values and virtues for Spring Term 2 were LEARNED and WISE. As we continue on our journey of faith in Year 3, preparing for and making our sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, we have become more LEARNED about the life that Jesus wants us to live. We have learnt this through listening to stories from the New Testament, discussing our Values and Virtues and reading the Wednesday Word and the associated readings. We know that it is not only important to become LEARNED but to be WISE by using this knowledge to make the right decisions. We have chosen Norah and Sophie to receive the certificate for showing that they are always LEARNED and WISE. This was particularly shown during our Easter Production, during which both children showed they were LEARNED by knowing what they had to say and do and then WISE by making the right decisions when things didn't go according to plan in the production! Sophie had to stand in for Louis who was sick and Norah had to perform alone when her fellow actor was sick! So weel done to them both!
Our values and virtues this half term are CURIOUS and ACTIVE. Year 3 are always curious about the world God made and ACTIVE in thinking of ways to improve it. In Art and English we have been looking at graffiti art and the work of the famous artist Banksy. We have linked this to our values of CURIOUS and ACTIVE. Banksy has created pieces of street art about the problems in the world for example war, governments and poverty. He is curious about the problems in the world. By producing pieces of art about these problems he is being ACTIVE. Do you agree? We have been CURIOUS about Banksy's art work and asked many questions about it. We have been ACTIVE by thinking about what his art work says about this world and how we can improve our world in response to these problems. Look at some of Banksy's pieces of art and our responses to them, do you think he is being CURIOUS and ACTIVE about the world? Do you think our responses show that we are CURIOUS and ACTIVE?
