St Anne's School History
Saint Anne's Catholic Primary School was opened in September 1970, with a total of 98 children on roll. There were 4 teaching staff along with the Head teacher.
Over the years, numbers have steadily increased. In the early 1990's a mobile unit was sited on our school playing field, which currently houses our Year 6 class. A period of growth in the school now sees us with a roll of over 210 school - aged pupils and 24 nursery children.
Over the summer holidays (August 2019) we created our new Early Years Unit and have moved our Year 6 children into a fantastic refurbished mobile classroom. In addition, our new staff and visitors car park has been created, which improves the security and safety of our site.
Our school is completely self - contained with its own hall (which also doubles as a well equipped gymnasium), school kitchen, dining hall, nurture room, 7 classrooms, cloakroom areas, Early Years unit, offices and staff room.
The building is surrounded by two large playgrounds (one infant, one junior), a large playing field and grassed areas. EYFS & Year 1 have their own outdoor classrooms. Year 6 enjoys its own fenced outdoor teaching area next to the mobile unit and we have recently developed a fabulous 'Woodlands Outdoor School' that all children access.
Mrs Johnston is the third Head teacher of St Anne's, who succeeds Mrs Robinson and Mrs Ward.
