Wednesday 10th Feb

Hello Year 6

I hope you are all keeping safe and well. As we are now fast approaching the end of the half term, we need to start thinking about home learning for the first two weeks after the holidays.

We will be reading a new class book called 'Skellig' by David Almond. Copies of this will be available to pick up from school on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th February between 10am and 2pm.

At the same time, you will be able to collect a protractor for our new maths topic on angles, as well as any other empty exercise books that you may need (I know that a lot of you have already filled up your home learning books!)

If you have finished reading Floodland you could also return it during that time - then we will be able to sanitise and quarantine it!

Hope that it will not be too long before we are all together as a class again.

Love and prayers

Miss Keedwell

Words for Mrs Taylor's Singing Lesson

"I'm Still Standing"

You could never know what it's like
Your blood like winter freezes just like ice
And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you
You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use

And did you think this fool could never win
Well, look at me, I'm a-coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way
And if you need to know while I'm still standing you just fade away

Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
And I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

Once I never could hope to win
You're starting down the road leaving me again
The threats you made were meant to cut me down
And if our love was just a circus you'd be a clown by now

You know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

Don't you know that I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
And I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

Now look at activity 2 on your learning schedule and complete in your exercise books.

L.O.: Understand why Mary might have praised God for his goodness and be able to explore some of the images of God found in this prayer.

• The Scriptures are filled with examples of people who turned to God in their need and praised God for his goodness to them. One of the best examples is that of Mary in her Magnificat.

• Read the Magnificat from Lk. 1: 46-56.

• Why does Mary praise God?

• What has God done for her that is so marvellous? What has he done for other people that is so great?

• What images of God does Mary’s prayer portray?

Activity: Create a poster showing some of these images of God and explain them

Watch the powerpoint and have a go at editing your own video documentaries. Once you have finished and checked them carefully, please send a copy to me so that I can post them on the Video Resource Centre.

I am really looking forward to seeing the finished documentaries from my talented Year 6 Film-makers.
