Request for Nursery!

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Nursery’s Class web page. This page is intended to help both the parents and family in their journey through Nursery. Please use the icons above to navigate the page.

Our topic for this half term is ‘Celebrations’. The children will be learning about different types of celebrations. Some of the celebrations we will cover are; Birthday, Bonfire Night, Remembrance Sunday, wedding, Nativity and Christmas.

We will update the website weekly with photographs of the children participating in different activities. These will be located in the ‘photographs’ icon at the top of the page.

Dates for your diary

  • Thursday 28th November - EYFS Prayer Service at 10am - All parents welcome to attend **Please note the change of day from Wednesday to Thursday**

Here is a reminder of some of our routines that will help us and your child:

Nursery Routines

In the mornings we have started a routine of blowing a whistle and shouting for Nursery children to come in at 8.45am. We will line them up outside the classroom and then lead them in together. If your child is distressed at all we will whisk them in! Please make goodbyes swift and then leave the playground. If your child can still see you through the window they often can become confused and this can upset them. In our experience children who are upset coming in will calm down very quickly. If you are concerned after you leave, please phone after a while so we can reassure you!

Please can we remind you that unfortunately we cannot talk in the mornings as we are welcoming the children in due to safety implications. Please use the blue Link book for communication about any small concerns/queries/who is picking up etc. If we are told something at the gate it is very difficult to remember and is much easier if it is written down as a little note in the book.  This will be checked every morning and placed back in your child's bag. If you need to speak to us further please email us  and we will see you at the next available opportunity. Please could you remind whoever is dropping off in the morning of this routine as well. Please can we remind you if for any reason you are late to take your children around to the front office where they will be taken through to Nursery. For safety reasons we cannot let children in through the Nursery door after it is closed in the morning.

We will dismiss the children from the Nursery gate at 3.25pm. We will line up the children behind the gate and shout each child's name for you to come forward to pick them up. If at all possible could you send in a picture of who regularly picks your child up and their relationship to your child? This will really help us when dismissing the children. Any children who have not been collected at this time will be taken to the front office to wait for you.

Please ensure that the children only come in with their lunch bag, drink, coat and Reading Packet (brown bag). We do not need pencil cases or large bags as this is too much for the children to carry. The P.E. bag will be left in school with a spare change of clothes for them.

Please can we remind you to label clearly all of your child's clothes. We have no way of knowing whose jumper belongs to who without a label! Please don't forget shoes, coats, hats, lunchboxes etc. At this age children struggle to recognise their own belongings!

We have noticed that the children have been given healthy lunches without too many treats! We encourage healthy eating and promote this with their morning milk and fruit time. We encourage children to drink plenty of their drinks throughout the day.

During the day we have set times when we do class prayers. We face the altar, join our hands, do The Sign of the Cross and say the class prayer. Obviously this is something we are just starting with the children and we ask if you could help your child with this too. The class prayers are here on our website for you to look at and help them.

In our Nursery we encourage the children to develop their independence. Please encourage and guide your child at home with putting on/taking off their coats and shoes. This will really help your child and give them confidence.

Thank you for your continued help and support,

Mrs Edgerton and Mrs Lingwood
