June 2024 Y2 Football Match vs Lindens

Scorching weather conditions meant that we changed the format of the match slightly. A mixed of year 2 boys and girls participated in a match against local primary school, Lindens, on the school field and MUGA. We played 3 x 10 minute matches, with one group on the MUGA and another group on the field. In the first 10 minutes, those on the MUGA were down 6-1. We re-grouped and came out for the second 10 minutes and closed the gap down to 9-7. The children were hopeful going into the final 3rd that they could get a result. I was so proud of their determination to never give up and continue to play the St Anne's way, finishing 11-11!

The game on the field was a much closer match, with the children going 3-0 in the first 3rd. Lindens scored in the second 3rd to leave a tense final 10 minutes. A quick goal after the re-start meant it was a stressful final few moments which the children held on for. A fantastic 3-2 victory over a very good footballing team. Well done everyone!

Unfortunately, the children were too hot for any pictures.

June 2024 Y6 Football vs Pelsall Village

Well done to the year 6 boys, who in their final game for St Anne's, won convincingly against Pelsall Village. The defence were tested at times against a skillful Pelsall Village attack but they withstood the pressure and was able to keep a clean sheet in the first half. Going in to the second half, the boys played some flowing football, using the width of the pitch to their advantage. Congratulations on Shay for taking home the match ball and rightly so, gets my player of the match award.

June 2024 WOW Championships Y6

Our most gifted and talented children in PE were selected to represent St Anne's in the lastest WOW Championships in Small Heath. The children are tested on a range of stamina, co-ordination, speed and agility. We went to the event hoping to beat our previous result of coming 3rd out of 10 schools. Amazingly, we finished 1st! Our first competition win in this type of event. Super proud of everyone that took part. They really did push themselves to their limits. The event finished with a competitive Quidditch game against other schools and a trial of archery. What a fantastic opportunity for our pupils!

March 2024 WOW Championships Year 2

Some of our Year 2 children were invited to compete in the WOW Championships over in Longbridge, Birmingham to test themselves against other children in Birmingham in a series of speed, agility and endurance activities. The team showed a great determination and resilience in each of the activities - a great first competitive experience in school for this year group. Also, a big congratulations to Jenny who was the highest scoring girl out of all the schools who attended.

March 2024 Cannock Got to Dance - Cheerleaders and Year 4 Dance Production

Our after school cheerleading club and year 4 children performed in two shows in our annual attendance at The Prince of Wales Theatre, Cannock. Children from around the county display different dance styles as chosen by them.

During our year 4 PE curriculum, Mrs Swann (KDDK Dance) performed to a medley in a street style dance. The cheerleaders performed a high level routine which they executed to a very high standard.

March 2024 Girls Biggest Ever Football Session

On Friday 8th March, St Anne's took part in the Youth Sports Trust initiative of the Biggest Ever Football Session throughout the UK, to inspire the next generation of girls to participate in football. During the day we provided football sessions from our Nursery class, right through to year 6. We are proud to say that every girl in St Anne's, that day, kicked a football and participated in at least 20 minutes of physical activity.

Our local MP, Wendy Morton, came down to our afternoon session to observe and report back to Parliament on the future of girls football.

January 2024 Midlands Dodgeball Finals

A group of pupils from Year 6 took part in the Midlands Dodgeball Finals in South Birmingham. Although challenging, the children used their skills from PE and after-school dodgeball to come away with some fantastic wins, finishing 5th out of 9 teams.

November 2023 WOW Championships Y3-Y4

The WOW Championships test the physical abilities of our most gifted and talented children in PE in a series of challenges. This year was the first time we sent a group from years 3&4 to complete and they came away from the fantastic experience with a new found confidence in their abilities. Well done to our selected pupils, St Anne's are very proud of you.

October 2023 WBA Y6 Football Tournament

An outstanding team performance from some of our year 6 pupils at the WBA Dome Academy saw them progress to the semi-finals where they were unfortunate to lose out to a single goal. Some fantastic individual and team goals during the day and what an experience to play in some fantastic facilities. Well done boys!
