Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Dear Parents and Year Six,

Please find the Curriculum Planner for Half 4 Term on the website. This contains all of the information that you and your child will need regarding the curriculum for this coming half term, but please feel free to catch me in the playground after school if you would like to discuss any matters.

Our main PE days will be on a Wednesday and a Thursday. Year 6 will be taught tennis by Mr Walker on a Wednesday afternoon and we have our Commando Joe session on Thursday afternoons. For PE, children will need trainers and we recommend that your child wears a tracksuit with the school PE shirt.  Please ensure that all kit is clearly labelled with your child’s name and children should have their PE kit in school every day not just on PE days.

Homework in Year 6 will continue to be sent home on a Friday and should be returned by the following Friday. The children will also bring home a reading book and reading diary. Reading books should be brought into school every day so that they can be used during quiet reading sessions. Please try to hear your child read at least twice a week and children are encouraged to take books home from the bookcase in the classroom if they are looking for something to read.

I hope that you have had the opportunity to look at the Year 6 pages of the website. They are regularly updated with photographs and information of activities and prayer services, information about things that have been going on in class and suggestions to support children’s learning at home.

Many Thanks,

Emily Keedwell
