Values and Virtues

This half-term's values and virtues are hopeful and faith-filled.

Hopeful

Father Hudson says "We are hopeful when we are optimistic about the future, we trust ourselves and others, and we don’t give up. Our faith teaches us that God is hope – that Christ walks before us and gives us the courage to follow. Hope makes us unafraid to step into the unknown and face challenges. Hope can deepen or restore our faith."

Faith-filled

Father Hudson says "We are faith-filled when we are living life as God inspires us to live it, putting the Gospel into action through our deeds. Faith gives us belief and trust in God and in other people. We have to build on it every day through prayer, being part of a faith community and living out the gospel values. Faith gives us hope."

In RE, we discussed how we can be faith-filled and hopeful during Lent. We thought of the times when we have shown these values and virtues in our own lives and created our own class display.

Prophetic and Intentional

This week we have been looking at our new values and virtues. This half-term they are Prophetic and Intentional

Intentional: We plan our actions and live how God wants us to.

Father Hudson says "every action we make has an impact on other people and the world around us. If we live intentionally, we listen to our conscience and deliberately decide that the actions we take will have a positive impact. We use the earth’s resources wisely, think about the choices we make, and care for God’s creation."

Prophetic: We spread the word of God through how we live our lives.

Father Hudson says "as we choose to act intentionally and make good decisions, we encourage others to do the same. We set a good example through our words and deeds and inspire other people to act in a positive and wise way. We help people to make the right decisions themselves and think about how God wants them to live their lives."

Curious and Active

This half-term our values and virtues are curious and active. We used magnifying glasses to write down something we are curious about and would like to discover. We thought about how we could be active in our learning and how we could find out about these things this half-term. Some of us also thought about how we could be compassionate by being active in looking after others in our school community.

Learned and Wise

Year 2 have been thinking about how we can be learned and wise in class this half term. We have made posters to show what learned and wise means to us. We will be showing these values and virtues in our attitudes and learning this half term.

Faith-filled and Hopeful

Our values and virtues this half term are faith-filled and hopeful. The children worked in small groups to design these posters. They thought about what the words meant to them and the ways that they are faith-filled and hopeful. The children also thought of people within our school community who show these traits. The children have the opportunity to nominate others in the class who have shown these values and virtues. We proudly display these names on our class board.
