Prayer at St Anne's

Prayer at St Anne's

Prayer plays a central part in the life of St. Anne's School. All classes have a focal prayer table which changes through the church's Liturgical season. Children are encouraged to learn formal prayers suitable for their age groups as well as sharing prayers that are more personal or creative.  Prayer can be written, sung or spoken, can be as individuals, groups or a whole class or can be adult or child led.

Formal Prayer

At the start of each new school year (or within the year where appropriate), children are introduced to the new formal prayers they will be learning for the year. These prayers are displayed around the class prayer table and used at class prayer times. The class pages will inform you of the formal prayers to be learnt by heart.

Prayer bags

Prayer bags in each class will go home with children following a rota on a daily basis. We ask that you take time as a family to pray together, allowing children to set up the prayer focus using the artefacts, books and pictures provided.

Child Led Liturgy Prayer Services

Children at St Anne's are encouraged to lead liturgy prayer where ever possible. Children further up the school work in pairs or small groups to plan, resource, set up and lead prayer in class.

Prayer Garden

The children were asked to make some designs for a new Prayer Garden. These ideas were used to create our new prayer space outside. The children like to go to the prayer garden to spend some quiet time in prayer, thought and contemplation.
