Year 2 Homework

Homework

Reading

Reading regularly is very important. Please try to hear your child read at least three times a week and sign your child's reading record book each time they have been heard read. You are also welcome to record comments about additional books that your child has read for enjoyment.

Spellings

Spellings will also be sent out each week on a Friday. These will be related to the 'spelling rule' that we have learnt in class. Please practise your spellings at home for a spelling test the following Friday.

Learn its

The children are encouraged to practise these daily (if possible) and within the given time recorded on the sheet, in order to progress onto the next step. Please don't worry if your child is not responding to the pressure of being timed as we will be timing them every Thursday. It would be more beneficial to practise the skills/number bonds/ times tables in each step first before using the timed guidance to help give the children confidence.

Topic Homework

Each half term, I will send out some topic homework with a range of fun and creative activities that the children can choose from. These activities will link to what we are learning about in History or Geography that half term. It would be fantastic if the children could complete at least one of the activities. Further details will be sent out with the homework via Parent Mail.

Additional Learning

It would be beneficial for your child to also be accessing Purple Mash, Times Table Rockstars and Phonics Play in their own time to support what we have been learning in school. These logins will be stuck into the children's reading record. If you require another copy of your child's username and password, please email me

Spelling Rules

Please find attached a pdf document below with all of the spelling rules we will be learning this half-term. The document also contains common exception words which are exceptions to the spelling rules and cannot be spelt phonetically.

Thank you for your support with homework. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
