Welcome to Year 2!
Welcome to our Year 2 Class Page!
I hope you all had a lovely half-term break. It has been wonderful to see the progress that each child has made since September. Thank you for your support with Homework and Spellings last term- the children had put in a lot of time and creativity into their homework and this was clear to see from marking their books.
This term we are looking at letter writing in Literacy and the children will each have the opportunity to write to a famous author. In Maths we are continuing our work on subtraction and addition and will be using our knowledge of the 2, 5 and 10 times table to solve multiplication problems. It would be useful if the children could practise these times tables regularly at home, to support them with their work in school. The Year 2 Autumn 2 Parent Planner is now available under the 'curriculum page'.
Our values and virtues this half term are hopeful and faith-filled. We will be referring to these values and virtues regularly in class, and children will have the opportunity to nominate others that have shown these traits.
Homework will be sent out on Fridays and is due in on Wednesdays. Please can children stick in any loose sheets into their homework book. Spellings will also be sent out on Fridays for a test the following Friday. These will be relevant to the spelling rule that children have been taught in class.
Our class prayer bag bag will be sent home to a different child each week on a Friday. Please use the contents to reflect through prayer. It would be wonderful if the children could write their own prayer in the Y2 Prayer Book, which is included in the bag.
Our PE home bag will be sent home to a different child each week on a Friday. The bag contains a range of PE equipment for children to use at home to help stay active. Please return the PE home bag the following Friday.
All children in Year 2 have been given a 'reading bookmark'. Each time their Reading Diary has been signed by a parent, children will receive a sticker on their bookmark. Children who complete their reading bookmark will receive a prize.
Our PE days are Mondays and Fridays. If possible, please ensure that earrings have already been removed on these days. Long hair should always be tied up. It would be helpful if children could practise tying their own shoe laces and fastening their shirt buttons at home, as this will mean we have more lesson time!
