Science senses investigation: November 2019

Our super Year 1 scientists investigated the five senses.  They looked through a light box and noted what they could see  They listened to different sounds such as the sound of an aeroplane taking off and the sound of an ambulance siren.  The taste test involved a range of different tastes that some enjoyed and others didn't!  The scientists smelt various smells including aniseed, peppermint and cocoa powder and lastly they touched hidden items such as bark, feathers and pebbles.  We hope you enjoy looking through our many photographs as much as we enjoyed our investigation.

Field Work Week: 21st - 25th October

We completed a field study of our local area by taking a walk to the local shops.  On our plans we marked the library and the names of the shops we saw.  Back in the classroom we completed maps that included a key to mark the different types of shops and whether they were food shops or non-food shops.

St Francis of Assisi Nature Walk: To celebrate the feast day of St. Francis Year 1 went on a nature walk to observe and draw many of God's wonderful creatures and the creatures that St. Francis loved and cared for.
