Homework for the half term holidays

We will have completed our Stone Age to Iron Age topic by the end of half term 1. The last theme we focused on was Iron Age settlements. We explored how people started to live together in larger groups and built hillforts to defend their roundhouses, crops and livestock. For the holidays, children are asked to design and build their own hillfort models! Below I attach some example photos, but children can build them how they wish. Perhaps they can use lego or clay if they prefer. Children should bring these models to school by Friday 12th November. Spellings will be the first week of autumn 2, in the document below. We will have a spelling test on the first Friday back.

Many thanks and enjoy your half term

Homework for Friday 10th October

Dear Parents,

This week children should complete an activity in their reading journals, an activity of their choice. I have given out some books but of course children are welcome to use their own books. The standard of the work last week was very good so keep up the efforts year 3. Also, we are writing a story based on a book we are reading in Class- Stone Age Boy. Children are typing these on their google classroom accounts. For homework, can children please login, find their stories and check and uplevel their stories so far. Check for; full stops, capital letters, exclamation marks, apostrophes and spellings. Uplevel means to improve it by adding adjectives ( describing words) or better adjectives , adverbs (quickly, slowly), conjunctions (and, so , but, because) new sentence starters (them , after , finally, also , when). The children do not need to write more or finish their stories, we are doing this in class, but they should login, read their stories and improve what has been done so far. Any issues with logging in, please contact me. However, the children know how to do this now. This activity should take about thirty minutes. Many thanks

Working out for Friday's Maths homework

Homework for Friday 15th October

Well done for all the hard work on the reading journals, stories and spellings. This week we will revise the maths we have been doing in class. We have been starting with three digit numbers and adding and subtract single digit numbers and adding and subtracting multiples of ten and adding and subtracting multiples of 100. On the last day of term I will do a Maths quiz revising these skill. So the homework will help chidlren with this. Please see the sheet below which shows how we have been working out the questions in class using number lines which chidlren can sketch themselves. Many thanks
